LGR upscale / downscale

Important   You first have to perform local grid refinement (Local Grid Refinement > LGR Creation) before you can continue with the LGR Upscale / Downscale form.

Using the LGR Upscale / Downscale form (modeling> 3D Grid > Modify Grid > Local Grid Refinement), you can quickly upscale or downscale selected grid properties. Synchronization is performed between LGR cell values and their original level 0 cell values. Use this form for property grids that have been updated, in the Calculator or with the graphical property editor for example.

For properties that you calculated on the LGR Property Mapping form, this form is not necessary.

  1. Select the grid.
  2. Select the properties to upscale.

Select  Check the box to include the property in the upscaling.

    Name  Name of the property.

Method  Select upscaling method. See Upscaling your 3D grid for a description of the various methods.

Weight property  If the method ‘Arithmetic mean weighted’ is selected, select a weight property from the drop-down list.

  3. Click Upscale.
  4. Specify properties to downscale.

Use  Check the box to include the property in the downscaling.

    Name  Name of the property.

Method  Select a downscaling method: "Copy" or "Scale".

Reference property  A reference property only applies if the "Scale" method is selected. It is the property according to which the downscaling is applied.

  5. Click Downscale.

Depending on the changes to be synchronized, you will select either the upscale or the downscale process.

  • In the upscale process, the LGR cell values update the level 0 cell value, which thus might change.
  • In the downscale process, the level 0 cell value updates the LGR cell values.
